Every now and then we need snacks for those long days maybe to power up for the future workout or just to kill cravings. Having granola or cereal bars on you is a great option ~ making them at home is even better to ensure that there are no added sugars, hidden carbs or transgenic fats. But we all know that sometimes we are not prepared for it. Having some store-bought options for moments like that won’t throw you out of ketosis.
Lucky for us, keto fans, our options for cereal bars are slowly increasing!
Be careful with all the brands that are marked as a “Keto-friendly”, it is better to be safe! Here are some tips to help you:
- Always read the ingredients list carefully and check the macros
- Whole-food ingredients are always better than the ones with preservatives and artificial components
- The higher the number of healthy fats and proteins the better
I haven’t personally tried this one YET but it seems to be a good option and fitting for keto. Their mission is to “Nourish the body, gut, & mind with tasty foods that are free of crap & contain zero to low sugar.” It sounds very much like us, huh? The LOW CARB KETO BARS seemed very good ~ net carb level is between 2g-3g without sugar alcohol
- Strawberry Vanilla
- Almond chocolate
- Ginger Nutmeg
- Choco Vanilla
PS.: If you decide to try this one, watch out to buy the right one since they have other options for cereal bars that are not keto.
PS 2: If you actually decide to try this one, let me know how it is!!!
GOOD TO GO
A more popular brand with a lot more options for flavors is Good2Go, which is very tasty. They are vegan, grain-free, gluten-free, peanut-free, kosher and Keto certified by the Paleo Foundation. They market themselves as “made with real, tasty ingredients like coconut and raspberries. Delicious in taste and cookie-like in texture”. It’s easy to find them in grocery stores and definitely worth a try!
- Blueberry Cashew
- Chocolate Mint
- Cinnamon Pecan
- Cocoa Coconut
- Double Chocolate
- Raspberry Lemon
- Strawberry Macadamia
- Vanilla Almond
The most popular brand among the cereal bars is Good Fats, and they are definitely delicious. Made with clean, natural and wholesome ingredients, each bar lists an average of 1g-2g of sugar. Available at most large but also smaller retail stores, this one should be the easiest to find.
- Peanut butter
- Chocolate chip
- Lemon mousse
- Cookies & Cream
- Mint chocolate chip
- Coconut chocolate chip
- Rich chocolate almond
- Peanut butter and Jam
- Chewy nutty chocolate almond
- Chewy nutty chocolate macadamia
PS.: The brand was launched by an entrepreneur called Suzie who (like me!) loved fats but avoided them for a long time. After developing health problems during a stressful time of her life, she spent a lot of energy researching nutrition and was able to uncover some misinformation about sugars and fats. Her knowledge led her to come up with a line of snacks and other products! Cheers to Suzie ~ we appreciate it a lot!
